With extensive expertise in organizational assessment, youth development and community conflict resolution in urban centers, G. Rasuli Lewis is currently the Director of the Harlem Children’s Zone Practitioners Institute. Lewis joined the Harlem Children’s Zone in 1993 as Director of the Peacemaker Program and for 10 years Lewis developed the anti-violence program into a strong and critical element of Harlem Children’s Zone’s network of services. In 2003, Lewis began building Harlem Children’s Zone Practitioners Institute to share information about Harlem Children’s Zone’s work, teach best practices, and provide pivotal guidance to groups from across the U.S. and around the world invested in replicating the Harlem Children’s Zone model. Prior to Harlem Children’s Zone, Lewis was Case Manager at the Private Industry Council for the City of Atlanta. Lewis received his BA from Bowdoin College and was a Columbia University Charles H. Revson Fellow in 1997-1998.
